The Wooden doors featured in our kitchens are built from top quality, well seasoned wood and finished using the best of handcrafted techniques. Although we treat our wooden doors using the best varnishes, damage due to continuous leaks, water dripping and steam cannot be completely prevented. It is important to remember that wood is a hygroscopic material; in other words, it exchanges humidity with the environment. It tends to expand in very damp settings and shrink when conditions are very dry. It is therefore important to dry doors if water spills or steam condenses on their surfaces, and therefore to remember to switch on the extractor hood every time you cook. Where the climate is particularly damp or dry, the kitchen should be fitted with a system which will keep the humidity level within suitable limits. These small precautions will help you to keep all your kitchen’s qualities and natural beauty intact. In all events, do not worry if the wood in your kitchen expands or shrinks a little at different times of year; this is not a defect, but the natural movement of a “live” product.

For routine maintenance of Wooden doors, use a soft cloth, or a micro-fibre cloth (available from our Dealers) dampened with water. For deeper cleaning, use a cloth with a small quantity of non-abrasive detergent, and work along the grain. Rinse with a wrung out cloth and dry all surfaces very thoroughly.

In the event of scratches or scoring marks, order the “touch-up bottle” directly from your Dealer and correctly apply the right amount of varnish to the door.

- use alcohol or stain removers,
- expose your kitchen to direct sunlight, to delay the process of colour variation the wood may undergo over time,
- use acetone, thinner, trichloro-ethylene and ammonia.
- use bleach or detergents which contain bleach.
